LA Weekly Announces LA Music: 02
The Weekly celebrates LA music with shows, seminars, awards and more

Los Angeles, CA June 6, 2002—LAMUSIC:02, LA Weekly’s fourth annual celebration of the Los Angeles music scene, will take place from June 20-26, launching with the LAMUSIC:02 edition of LA Weekly, publishing June 20,2002.
Kicking off the festivities is Kaleidoscope, LA Weekly’s quarterly charitable concert series. Held at Spaceland, 1717 Silver Lake Blvd., on Thursday, June 20, the concert will feature three LA Weekly Music Award nominees: The Dagons, Biblical Proof of UFOs and 400 Blows. Also performing are Silver and Foremost. The concert benefits the Myositis Association of America and its Kili Climb for a Cure 2002. A silent art auction features poetry by Henry Rollins, photography by legendary rock photographer Greg Waterman, and art by Cinjun Tate of Remy Zero, and Brandon McCulloch of Silver. Doors open at 8 p.m. with a minimum donation of $5.
The week culminates with LA Weekly’s Music Awards at The Roxy in Hollywood on Wednesday, June 26 at 8 p.m. The invitation-only event will feature performances by several of the LA Weekly Award nominees, including Concrete Blonde, My Ruin, Radar Bros., Medusa and Feline Science and more. KCRW’s Garth Trinidad will be spinning between sets.
In the week itself are concerts, shows, industry seminars, fundraisers and more. LAMUSIC:02 is designed to galvanize the city’s dynamic music community and industry, feature new and breaking local artists in the tradition of LA Weekly, and showcase some of L.A.’s most original and varied musical styles and innovations.
